Simon Barclay
Simon Barclay runs Depotex, a textile business that specialises in handwoven cotton, silk and linen fabrics which are produced by his family business in Kerela, southern India.
Simon will share his extensive knowledge of how his family produces quality, saleable products which maintain a community of over 600 families, using cottage industries that keep the villages alive.
You will learn about how the fabrics are made from spinning fibre, and weaving into fabric.
Simon will tell you about the challenges of modern businesses, and the issues of FairTrade and organic cotton.
You will leave with beautiful fabric samples which you can share with your students.
